Do you need crowns or bridges to complete or replace your existing or missing teeth, or to complete your existing dental implants? Dentha Dentistry Szeged offers you all these services.

Zirconium ceramic crowns and bridges: outstanding aesthetic appeal and durability

Sometimes a filling or an inlay may not be sufficient for restoring your tooth. In such cases, we will propose a crown or a bridge as the solution. Our zirconium ceramic crowns and bridges offer a host of advantages over more traditional solutions – no wonder they are becoming ever more popular with our patients.

Zirconium ceramic dental prostheses – The pros:

  • Natural appearance
  • High-precision fitting
  • Durability
  • Metal free and hypo-allergenic

Zirconium ceramic dental prostheses – The cons:

  • Significantly higher cost compared to traditional metal ceramic crowns

Lifelike appearance
Zirconium crowns and bridges blend in with your existing teeth – no one will be able to tell that you even have them fitted. The greyish tone of metal ceramics is a thing of the past. Zirconium crowns and bridges match the natural colour of your existing teeth.

Computer technology (CAD/CAM) guarantees high-precision fitting
Of high aesthetic appeal, metal free zirconium ceramic crowns and bridges are prepared similarly to traditional metal ceramic dental prostheses. Your dentist will remove any damage or decay, then take an impression of your affected teeth using dental putty and send it off to the dental laboratory. Instead of casting it in metal, the dental laboratory will mill the interior of your future dental prosthesis in zirconium, using CAD/CAM technology. This technology allows us to achieve the greatest possible precision.

As the first step, the dental lab will use a special laser scanner to obtain a 3D image of the impression taken of your tooth. Then, with the help of a computer, a restoration is custom-designed for your tooth. For maximum precision, the restoration is produced by a computer-controlled milling machine. Your dentist will check how well the interior of the prosthesis fits your tooth. If the fit is perfect, the dental lab proceeds to fuse the porcelain to the metal interior. This grants your dental prosthesis great aesthetic appeal. If the zirconium crown or bridge is to your satisfaction both in terms of appearance and comfort, your dentist will cement it permanently into position.

The result is great natural appearance combined with great durability.

Metal ceramic crowns and bridges with a traditional metal interior fused to porcelain

Even today, metal ceramic crowns and bridges continue to be the most popular type of dental prosthesis. With all pros and cons considered, traditional metal ceramic crowns and bridges have for decades offered a lasting solution to certain dental problems.

Metal ceramic dental prostheses – The pros:

  • Cost efficiency

Metal ceramic dental prostheses – The cons:

  • Limited aesthetic appeal; less lifelike and less translucent than metal free solutions
  • A slightly greyish tone because of the metal interior
  • The metal may cause allergic reactions

Metal ceramic crowns are made in a similar way to metal free prostheses, the difference being in how the dental laboratory produces them:

  • Your dentist will remove any damage or decay, then take an impression of your affected teeth using dental putty and send it off to the dental laboratory.
  • The dental lab prepares the metal interior using traditional technology. Once the interior has been checked for a good fit, the porcelain exterior is fused to it, making sure that the ceramic has the same colour as your own teeth.
  • Your dentist will once again check the appearance and fit of your crown or bridge, and if everything is fine, the prosthesis is cemented permanently in position.

  • The computer-controlled ceramics milling robot takes no more than 8 to 10 minutes to mill the ceramic crown or inlay from a block of ceramic matching the colour of your existing teeth.

  • Working to an accuracy of mere micrometres, the computer-aided design process ensures a perfect fit.
  • The solution is metal free and hypo-allergenic.
  • The solution delivers outstanding aesthetic appeal.

Cerec crowns – The cons:

  • Cerec crowns are less durable than other types of crowns mentioned above.
  • The system is only suitable for making a crown or an inlay for a single tooth.
  • The system is not suitable for making a bridge to replace a missing tooth.

When do we recommend ceramic veneers?

Ceramic veneers offer outstanding advantages both in terms of aesthetic appeal and functionality. We use veneers to correct minor cosmetic imperfections on frontal teeth.

What is a pressed ceramic veneer?
A pressed ceramic veneer is a layer of porcelain as thin as a contact lens that is fitted over the front of the tooth. Veneers give a renewed, beautiful appearance to your incisors. Because of their unparalleled properties, veneers are extremely popular with celebrities all over the world.

Looking for a great smile? We recommend that you consider dental veneers if:

  • You are unsatisfied with the shape or the size of your teeth.
  • Your teeth are misaligned and this makes you feel awkward.
  • Your teeth have worn off or chipped.
  • Your teeth have become discoloured because of certain medications and whitening does not help.
  • You would like to reduce a wide gap (diastema) between your teeth.
  • You would like to modify your bite by applying veneers fitted to the chewing surface.

Ceramic veneers – The pros:

  • Less of the tooth matter is drilled away than in the case of a crown.
  • Your smile line may be improved quickly.

Ceramic veneers – The cons:

  • Less durable than crowns.
  • Very thin, and therefore more prone to chipping than crowns.
  • May not always be fitted.
  • Teeth grinding and malocclusion are contraindications to the application of veneers.
  • Only suitable for solving minor cosmetic problems.
